I've been in this sport long enough to remember when all powerchutes were affordable, basic flying machines. After all, back then, most folks only wanted to "go up and look around".
Well you know what? People haven't changed, 20 years later they still want to "go up and look around".
However, the purchase price of a new 2 seat powerchute has increased from "way too high" to "ridiculous" and then on to "insane" in the last few years.
I consider that to be unacceptable and decided to do something about it.
The Airframes Unlimited Basic 2-seater is the result of many months of hard work, number crunching and flight testing. As we designed the Basic 2-seater our goal was to provide working Americans with a safe, reliable and durable 2 seat powerchute with a ready to fly price of under $8300.00
The Basic 2-seater was designed to fly 2 people in style with a 50 horsepower engine. Contrary to what you may have read on the internet, it does not take a large, expensive engine to fly 2 people on a hot summer day. All it takes is a properly designed powerchute :)
The Basic 2-seater was long term flight tested with the Rotax 503 engines. The engines tested produced great thrust (that's what gets you into the air, not horsepower) and perfect reliability.
Please note that for 2010 that the Basic 2-seater comes with a Rotax gearbox instead of the belt drive shown in the photos. The Basic 2-seater will lift a 450 pound payload on a standard density altitude day.
Airframes may be painted red, blue, black, white, or green.
The price for a ready-to-fly Basic 2-seater is, $8295.00
We do not include any instrumentation on the Basic 2-seater but do offer it as an option. We will also gladly provide you with phone numbers where you may purchase your own instrumentation if you'd like to install it yourself. Many people do.
The Basic 2-seater comes with rigid suspension as do 99.9% of all ultralight and experimental aircraft. Ultralight aircraft do not require expensive, heavy shock suspension, they only require a warm body at the controls with an I.Q. slightly above room temperature :)
The Basic 2-seater comes with :
New all steel airframe, welded by professional aircraft welders
New tundra Tire/ Azusa plated wheels on the mains (rear) / Azusa plated wheel/400x6 rib tire on the front
New 500' canopy complete with high quality storage bag and line sox
New 72" three blade ground adjustable Ivoprop
Manual start engine (cranks on the first pull)
New std lowback seats
Oh, and did I mention that the Basic 2-seater will fit into the back of any pickup (even imports) with the tailgate down?
The "Basic 2-seater" sells for $8295.00 fully assembled and ready to fly.
shipping is available anywhere in the lower 48 states for an additional fee
